TITLE: Go Green Fishing Machine

I am very excited to finally say that the Go Green Fishing Machine is here!! We drove down to Waycross Georgia home of Carolina Skiff and Sea Chaser boats and picked up what is certainly to be one of the most versatile, economical boating and fishing platforms ever made. Would you like to fish all day and only spend $2 buck-a-roo on fuel???, Well, that is what we did this week, thanks to Suzuki Marine and Carolina Skiff -read on!!

Here is a little background on how we came up with this boat \ motor package. It was about a year and a half ago when I was in Miami at the International Boat Show when I was talking with the marketing director from Suzuki. It was at this time that the first look at the new 90 hp Suzuki four stroke was unveiled along with some other new engines from Suzuki that were all being announced. To my knowledge, the engines were not yet even available. It was not until the upcoming Suzuki June new product release in Key Largo when we actually had the opportunity to run these new power plants. And run-they did! WOW!

I understood in Miami that these engines were incredibly fuel-efficient and would have extremely low emissions. I also considered the fact that probably in the future the smaller boat market would be expanding and growing even further, this gave me a great idea. Put together a boat company along with Suzuki that combined would produce a fishing \ boating platform that was unbelievably economical to use and have low impact environmentally. Everyone now is more aware of the importance of being Stewards of our environment, and certainly everyone is aware of the cost associated with boating. So, a boat package that would be very low impact environmentally, and extremely inexpensive to operate without sacrificing power, comfort, fishability, and quality, seemed like a good idea to me!!

Being very familiar with Carolina Skiff for years gave me the idea to research some of their boats more closely. I had gotten Skiff on the phone and talked at length about a lot of their product line, but especially the JVX20 that was rated for up to a 90hp. This boat had everything that a sportsman could want and with such inherent versatility, the boat could be rigged to suit just about any outdoor enthusiast. For our application fishing around the Hampton Roads area, we just went with a few options like a bait well, bow and stern rails, rod holders, and of course the new smart trim tabs which further aid in fuel savings. Thus, the new Go Green Fishing Machine was born. A boat that by it’s very nature carries a large payload requiring very little power. But a lot of power is what Suzuki was able to achieve with this new 90hp four stroke all the while even continuing to further reduce emissions and fuel savings. An extremely efficient clean running boat and motor package that would not be expensive to purchase or to run and maintain.

We also installed a new fuel sensor from Tidewater Sensors. This is a new device that measures accurately the amount of fuel that is in your tank. The system works very, very well and is a great aid to the already awesome digital smart display that came with our new Suzuki 90hp four stroke. This digital display has many features including trip and fuel log info as well as GPS position information for accurate SOG readings.

For detailed info about all these products associated with the new Go Green Fishing Machine just log on to our web site at www.jimbaughoutdoors.com. We will also be putting up complete performance test on the boat soon so stay tuned. This new rig will be featured on JBO TV and will be used for most of our shooting in and around the Hampton Roads area.

At jimbaughoutdoors.com we also have a new Go Green section on the web site with a lot of environmental and energy saving tips. Check it out!!
On our first trip on the Go Green Fishing Machine I took Ruth out for a bottom-bouncing bonanza near the MM Tunnel. We loaded up the boat with Croaker and cooked up a feast back at JBO Central. Fried Croaker is just fantastic. Try adding a quarter cup of corn meal to your batter, really ads a nice touch. Below is my own special tarter sauce recipe for Croaker, this is a must try.

Combine pickle relish, mayo, teaspoon olive oil, one fresh squeezed lemon, fresh cracked pepper, one teaspoon of texas pete hot sauce, a dash of red wine vinegar, and some fresh chopped parsley. Mix together and chill for one hour. Use as a dipping sauce for the fresh fried Croaker, very, very good.
