Chesapeake Bay Tournaments Weather Recommendation is a weather recommendation available to all tournaments or on water events held in or near the Chesapeake Bay. This weather standard is simply a "ceiling" condition that once certain weather conditions are predicted, then scheduled on water events are recomended to be postponed or canceled. The nature of this weather recommendation is to increase the safety level of tournaments and events held on or near the Chesapeake Bay.
The weather condition for the C.B.T.W.R that would require postponement or cancellation of an on water event is as follows.
A) When a small craft advisory is set by NOAA with a forecast for the day of the event with winds or gust of 30 knots or more the C.B.T.W.R. recommendation will take effect and the event should be postponed or canceled at the discretion of the sponsor or committee.
B) Events on the Bay should be postpone or canceled at any time that the sponsor or committee determines that conditions less severe than those stated in A above pose a danger to the participants of the event.
C) Nothing in these recommendations is intended to relieve the individual captain or participant of their responsibilities to insure the safety of his or her vessel and or passengers.
